It is gratifying that the city of Hoxie and Hoxie School is being honored later this month with the Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. The commission is recognizing Hoxie's contributions to the American Civil Rights movement through the 1955 integration of Hoxie School. Heavy rains in March 1975 caused $400,000 worth of damage and forced the evacuation of 20 homes.
